In 1982, a group of dedicated musicians in Louisville, Kentucky, came together to support a fellow artist injured in an accident. The overwhelming community response not only met but exceeded the immediate needs, inspiring Marvin Maxwell to establish the Musicians’ Emergency Resource Foundation (MERF). Since its inception, MERF has been committed to offering emergency aid to musicians and entertainment workers in the Kentuckiana region. Our mission is to foster a supportive network that ensures no musician stands alone in times of crisis, drawing strength from the community’s generosity and solidarity.
